COST Action IS1102 SO.S. COHESION - Social services, welfare state and places

TASK3/WG3 - COMPARATIVE ASSESSMENT OF PRACTICES, WITH A VIEW TO PROVIDE POLICY INPUTS FOR A EUROPEAN SOCIAL POLICY PLATFORM (Months 34-48)

Description

Aim

The aim of this task was to sort out from the evidence gathered and compared in the previous task, both good and bad practices, in order to identify the most enabling institutional frameworks and production arrangements and their potential for transferability. In particular, the practices enhancing efficiency, quality and users satisfaction, democratic participation, social and territorial cohesion, good working conditions, and equal opportunities were singled out. Contextually, the hypothesis that multi-scalar and multi-actor governance in social services works best in contexts with robust regulatory frameworks that ensure universal access, ‘minimum welfare standards’, and basic labour protection were tested. Such findings were then to be valorised in academic publications

Responsibility and Activities

This task was carried out by Working Group 3, coordinated by a WG3 Leader, and involved the following activities:

  • Working Group organisational meetings.
  • Parallel WG meetings to compare assessments of case studies.
  • Working Group workshops to discuss drafts of papers for publication.
  • Action final conference to present the final output of the Action to the broader public.
  • Local stakeholders workshop to share findings with the local community
